I definitely agree with this article. It is us who pay the taxes! Ever since I got laid off, I had to start freelancing when and wherever I could to make enough money to scrape by.  Granted, I do have a little more "freedom" in a sense, but I have to work really hard to replace even half of what I made in my previous 9 to 5 job, and the job market isn't making things easy. I write a lot of stuff for various websites, odd jobs for people, temp agency work, whatever I can do to make a little money. But still, I'm paying my taxes and sometimes these taxes aren't visible in public's eyes.

We have a small company operating in California, Texas and New Mexico.  In California, we are paying about $3,000 in annual corporate tax.  If we were earning all of our income in Texas, the corporate tax would be a fraction of the $3,000.  The same corporate tax in Montana is $15; in Georgia it is $35.

My next business goal is to increase growth to the point where I can leave California.
